- Dr. (Prof) Gourdas Choudhuri is a renowned gastroenterologist, medical educator, researcher, columnist, and philanthropist with over 43 years of experience.
- He trained at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
- Dr. Choudhuri pioneered Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Extracorporeal Shockwave Biliary Lithotripsy (ESWL) in India.
- Under his leadership, the Department of Gastroenterology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, became one of the top five in the country.
